October 5th: Saturday’s English Accumulator – 8/1

On a Saturday schedule that includes the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, we certainly have a heavyweight Saturday fixture list from up and down the country.

However, while the Premier League’s elite might steal centre stage this weekend, we have a stacked schedule from across England’s professional tiers.

For those of you who are looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have taken an in-depth look at some of the most appealing English betting tips.

Saturday, October 5th
BST 15:00 Arsenal vs Southampton

While Arsenal might have fallen short last season in the race to get their hands on a first domestic crown since 2004, the Gunners have once again come flying out of the traps this time around. Claiming what was a heavyweight Champions League scalp earlier in the week as they secured a routine 2-0 win against French icons PSG, Mikel Arteta’s men will certainly be smelling another golden opportunity here. Despite leaving it late last weekend as they eventually claimed an action-packed 4-2 victory against Leicester, Saturday’s hosts have won each of their previous three appearances across all competitions. Notching 11 goals on that three-match winning run and yet to suffer a single defeat across any competition since opening up the new campaign, Arsenal are rightfully pencilled in as a landslide contender this weekend. It should also be highlighted, Arteta’s side have suffered just a sole defeat at the Emirates so far this calendar year.

Although Southampton might have secured a Premier League return for this season, the Saints have an almighty battle on their hands. With it suggested that the pressure on Russell Martin’s shoulders is at a boiling point, Saturday’s guests are pencilled in as a landslide relegation contender this year and have drastically struggled to deal with the leap up in class. Last seen putting in another nightmare display as they slumped to a 3-1 drumming away at arch-rivals Bournemouth, the former Swansea boss has seen his downbeat squad muster just a single point from any of their first six Premier League appearances. Heading into September’s international break with another 3-1 defeat away at Brentford, Southampton couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge when they arrive in north London this weekend. Shipping a trio of goals in three of their previous four Premier League showdowns, the Saints’ leaky defence have another monumental challenge on the cards this weekend.

Tip: Kai Havertz to score anytime @ 7/5

15:00 Sheffield United vs Luton Town

Putting in another rugged performance earlier in the week as they clinched a 1-0 victory at home against Swansea, Sheffield United find themselves at the heart of what has become a real Championship purple patch. Continuing to shine on either side of September’s international break and with their sights set on securing an immediate Premier League return, Chris Wilder’s men are unbeaten in all of their opening eight second-tier showdowns so far this season. Marking their return from September’s international break with a 2-0 win away at Hull, Saturday’s hosts have collected 13 points from just their previous five Championship appearances. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat within striking distance of climbing to the top of the table, it should also be highlighted that the Blades have not conceded a single strike from any of their previous five Championship showdowns a run that stems back to August 24th.

While Luton might have also lost their Premier League status last season, the Hatters have drastically struggled to adjust to life back in the Championship. Battling it out at the foot of the table and opening Saturday’s trip to Bramall Lane holding just a one-point buffer from dropping into the relegation zone, Rob Edwards’ men have come under a tremendous amount of recent scrutiny. Signing off September with a woeful 3-1 drumming away at Plymouth, the former Watford boss has seen his downbeat squad win just a pair of their first nine appearances across all competitions. Heading into September’s fortnight interval with a 2-1 defeat at home against QPR, Saturday’s guests should also be concerned by their most recent showdown against the Blades. Falling to a 3-1 loss when they welcomed United to Kenilworth Road on February 10th, we are backing a similar home victory here.

Tip: Sheffield United win @ 19/20

15:00 Exeter City vs Cambridge United

Although Exeter might have endured a stuttering start when opening up the new campaign, the Grecians have come roaring back in an eye-catching fashion. Last seen earlier in the week putting in a rugged performance as they clinched a 1-0 victory away at Leyton Orient, Saturday’s hosts have skyrocketed their way into the top-half of the table. Hoping to find a route into the play-off places this weekend, Gary Caldwell’s men should find the mood in their camp at a recent high. Mustering 10 points from their previous four appearances across all competitions, the Devon-based outfit will also be excited by their extended success at the back. Including a 2-0 win against Stevenage on September 21st, Exeter have not conceded a single goal in almost 450 minutes of action. It should also be noted, Caldwell’s side have won their previous three straight showdowns at St. James’ Park by an aggregate score of 5-1.

While Cambridge might have just about limped their way over the finishing line last season as they managed to keep hold of their League One status, Saturday’s guests are enduring a major third-tier nightmare this time around. Sat rock-bottom of the table, Garry Monk’s men have collected just a single point from any of their first eight appearances. Already sat seven points adrift of finding a route out of the relegation zone, the one-time Birmingham boss has an almighty uphill battle on his hands at the Abbey Stadium. In fact, last seen earlier in the week falling to a toothless 1-0 loss at home against Rotherham, Cambridge have lost their last five consecutive appearances by an aggregate score of 9-2. It should also be highlighted, Monk’s side have lost each of their opening five showdowns on the road across all competitions. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class, we are backing a home victory here.
